Με αφετηρία την επέτειο των 200 ετών από την έναρξη της Ελληνικής Επανάστασης του 1821, η Αστική Μη Κερδοσκοπική Εταιρεία “Flag of Greece” εγκαινιάζει τον πρώτο της κύκλο καλλιτεχνικών εκθέσεων παρουσιάζοντας για πρώτη φορά στο κοινό 200 αντικείμενα από την συλλογή της και σκιαγραφεί ένα εικαστικό ταξίδι στην ιστορία της Ελληνικής Σημαίας από τα τέλη του 19ου αιώνα έως σήμερα.
Μετά την καλντέρα της Σαντορίνης το καλοκαίρι 2021, η έκθεση «Flag of Greece: One Symbol - 200 Objects»παρουσιάζει, υπό την αιγίδα της Επιτροπής «Ελλάδα 2021», στο Θέατρο του Κολλεγίου Αθηνών, στο Ψυχικό, την Ελληνική Σημαία ως πηγή έμπνευσης στον χώρο των εικαστικών τεχνών, της μουσικής, της μόδας και του design.
Πρόκειται για ένα πραγματικό ταξίδι στην ελληνική ιστορία με επίκεντρο το εικαστικό ενδιαφέρον της γαλανόλευκης. Περιλαμβάνονται από αφίσες, πλακάτ, περιοδικά και καρτ ποστάλ άγνωστων δημιουργών του Πρώτου Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου, παιχνίδια του μεσοπολέμου, συλλεκτικές αναμνηστικές εκδόσεις γραμματοσήμων, καρφιτσών και μεταλλίων του προηγούμενου αιώνα, έως σύγχρονα έργα ζωγραφικής, κεραμικής και φωτογραφίας, καθώς και γλυπτά μοντέρνας τέχνης από καταξιωμένους καλλιτέχνες. Μαζί με τα έργα καλλιτεχνών της μόνιμης συλλογής, όπως των Παύλου Διονυσόπουλου, Γιάννη Τσαρούχη, Γιάννη Μόραλη, Αλέξη Ακριθάκη, Micha Cattaui, Ζέττας Αντσακλή, Αλέκου Φασιανού, Στέλλας Κουκουλάκη, Τάσου Νικάκη, Dimitris the Athens, Ιωάννη Γουδέ, Phil Pebbington, Antonio Jorge Concalves, Bost, Έλλης Σολωμονίδου-Μπαλάνου, καθώς και numérotés αντικείμενα των οίκων Cartier, Omega, Corum, Jaeger LeCoultre, Swatch, Superga, παρουσιάζονται και νέα έργα πολλών καλλιτεχνών που συνέπραξαν στη στήριξη της Flag of Greece, όπως οι: Έλενα Βότση, B216, Venetia Vildiridi, Grecian Chic, Κατερίνα Ροβύθη, Χρήστος Ευσταθίου, Averel, Zoozoocrochet, Χλόη Ακριθάκη, Χαρά Σκλήκα, Nicky Economou, Αθηνά Χατζή. Στην έκθεση θα ενταχθούν και αντικείμενα, φωτογραφικό/εικαστικό και άλλο υλικό από το Κολλεγιακό Αφιέρωμα στα 200 χρόνια από την Επανάσταση της Ελληνικής Ανεξαρτησίας.
Ο πρωταρχικός στόχος της Flag of Greece είναι η ανάδειξη της Ελληνικής Σημαίας ως συμβόλου της ελληνικής ταυτότητας, που διαχωρίζεται από οποιονδήποτε εθνικιστικό συσχετισμό που προάγει φυλετικές διακρίσεις, κυριαρχικά μοντέλα ή αποκλεισμούς μελών της κοινωνίας.

To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the start of the 1821 Greek Revolution for Independence, the Civil Non Profit Partnership “Flag of Greek” launches its first cycle of art exhibitions, presenting for the first time to the public 200 items from its collection. Through an artistic journey, it portrays the history of the Greek Flag from the end of the 19th century until today. Following the “Flag of Greece: One Symbol -200 Objects” exhibition on the Caldera of Santorini in the summer of 2021, the exhibition will present the Greek Flag, a source of inspiration for visual arts, music, fashion and design, in the Athens College Theater in Psychico. The exhibition will be presented under the auspices of the “Greece 2021” Committee.
A true journey through Greek history, it focuses on the artistic interest of the blue and white flag. The exhibition is comprised of objects ranging from posters, placards, magazines, post cards created by unknown illustrators from the period of World War I, vintage toys and diverse memorabilia including commemorative stamps, pins and medals from the previous century to contemporary paintings, ceramics, photographs, as well as modern art sculptures created by renowned artists. Including works pieces by artists such as Pavlos Dionyssopoulos, Yannis Tsarouchis, Yiannis Moralis, Alexis Akrithakis, Micha Cattaui, Zetta Antsakli, Alekos Fassianos, Stella Kukulaki, Tassos Nikakis, Dimitris the Athens, Ioannis Goudes, Phil Pebbington, Antonio Jorge Concalves, Bost, Elli Solomonidou-Balanou, as well as numbered editions of objects by Cartier, Omega, Corum, Jaeger, LeCoultre, Swatch, and Superga that form part of the permanent collection, also exhibited are new works by numerous artists who have collaborated with and support Flag of Greece, such as Elena Votsi, B216, Venetia Vildiridi, Grecian Chic, Katerina Rovithi, Christos Efstathiou, Averel, Zoozoocrochet, Chloe Akrithaki, Hara Sklika, Nicky Economou and Athina Hatzi. The exhibition also includes objects, photographic, visual and other material from the Athens College tribute to 200 years since the Greek Revolution for Independence.
The primary objective of Flag of Greece is to promote of the Greek Flag as a symbol of Greek identity, separated from any nationalist correlation that fosters racial discrimination, sovereignty models or exclusion of members of our society.
